The 10KeyPro free typing test measures your Keystrokes Per Hour (KPH) and accuracy in a 60-second sprint. Entry-level data entry requires 8,000 KPH at 95% accuracy. Medical billing and accounting roles require 10,000-12,000 KPH at 98-99% accuracy. Results include both Gross KPH and Net KPH — the accuracy-adjusted score used by employers.
This free 10-key typing test generates two scores: Gross KPH (your total raw keystrokes per hour) and Net KPH (your accuracy-adjusted score, which deducts approximately 50 keystrokes per error). Net KPH is the score that matters to employers. Most professional hiring platforms — including Kenexa Prove It!, Criteria Corp, and eSkill — report Net KPH as the primary qualification metric.
The test runs entirely in your browser. No keystrokes are transmitted to our servers. No signup is required. Your score is available immediately after the 60-second sprint completes.
| Score Range | Level | Typical Roles |
|---|---|---|
| Under 6,000 KPH | Beginner | Building foundational skills |
| 6,000-8,000 KPH | Intermediate | Office support, reception |
| 8,000-10,000 KPH | Professional | Data entry, payroll processing |
| 10,000-12,000 KPH | Advanced | Medical billing, banking |
| 12,000+ KPH | Expert | Financial auditing, senior roles |
Is this test the same format as employer assessments?
Yes. The 1-minute timed sprint on numeric-only data is the standard format used by Kenexa Prove It!, Criteria Corp, and most in-house HR assessment tools. The data sets on 10KeyPro are structured to mirror real-world entry patterns including currency totals, account IDs, and numeric sequences.
What is a passing score?
For general data entry roles, 8,000 Net KPH at 95% accuracy is the standard minimum. For medical billing and banking, 10,000 KPH at 98% accuracy. For forensic accounting, 12,000+ KPH at 100% accuracy. See our full benchmark guide: What Is a Good 10-Key Speed? →
Can I use my laptop keyboard?
You can, but your score will be lower than on a standalone mechanical numeric keypad. Laptop keyboards have insufficient key travel for sustained high-speed entry, and most do not have a dedicated numeric keypad. For accurate baseline measurement before a job test, use a dedicated USB numeric keypad. See: Best Keypads for 2026 →
